Join your party

1. Tap the party link from your group chat. The site opens with everyone’s characters. Looking needs no sign-in.
2. No link? Open Settings, paste the campaign folder link into the box next to Party, and press Open party.
3. This device remembers the party, so next time the site opens straight to it.

Look at a character

Pick a name from the Party dropdown in Settings. The sheet shows that character, and the site reopens it the next time you visit.

Make your character

1. In Settings, choose File > New blank character.
2. Fill in the tabs (Core, Skills, Combat, Spells, Inventory, Features). The sheet updates as you type.
3. For a portrait, use Upload image. The picture is saved inside the character file, so it shows on everyone’s screen.

Save your character

1. Open your party first, then choose File > Save character. The file is named after your character, such as aria.md.
2. The first time, sign in with Google. Ink & Initiative only gets access to the files it saves for you.
3. Google may then show the campaign folder or your character file. Select it and press Select. This happens once.
4. After that, Save character is one tap.

Teammates see your changes within a minute, and you see theirs. If someone else saved the same character after you opened it, the site asks before replacing their version.

Delete character moves the open character’s file to the Google Drive bin, where it can be restored for 30 days. Only the person who saved it, or the folder’s owner, can delete it.

Changes you haven’t saved stay on this screen only, and the site asks before you close it with changes that would be lost. Export .md file still gives you a copy to keep.

During a session

Hit points, spell slots, rests and other counters are kept on your own device, for each character separately. Nobody else sees them, and they never change anyone’s file.

No connection? The site shows the party it last loaded on this device.

Starting a campaign

1. In Google Drive, make a folder for the campaign.
2. Share it with Anyone with the link as Editor, so players can save their characters into it. For tighter control, share the link as Viewer and add each player’s email as an Editor.
3. Copy the folder link, paste it in Settings, and press Open party.
4. Press Copy link and send that link to the group chat.

Anyone with the folder link can see every character in it.
